The Museum of Natural History

Today we went to the Smithsonian. It was fun there. We watched a movie about stars. It told about the Little Dipper and the Big Dipper. It was cool, but it was supposed to be easy to see, but it wasn’t easy to see for me. Anyway, the second movie we watched was done by computers. It was really cool, only I was scared of the part where the asteroid hit Earth. That was scary. But Mommy let me hold her hand and then we went out of it and went to the National Museum of Natural History, and we watched a Safari movie. The movie was about the Big Five. The Big Five were elephants, buffalo, rhinos, leopards, and the last one was lions. My toy Mongo, who is a lion, would have liked it.

We saw dinosaur bones before the movie. There were stegosaurus, Tyrannosaurus Rex, and also Long Necks (like The Land Before Time). But by the dinosaurs, above them, there was a SHARK MOUTH! It was WAY bigger than sharks today. And also, we saw Sponge-Gar (prehistoric Sponge Bob Squarepants).

We also saw mammals after that. There were panda bodies, and also at the entrance, you would see a big tiger JUMPING out at you!

Everything Comes Alive at Night in the Museum

We went to the Planetarium at the Air and Space Museum and watched a show about stars. We did the old one and the new one. One was done with the star projector, and the second one by computers. The second one was called “Cosmic Collisions.”

We had lunch at the ESPN Zone! TOUCHDOWN! I had the “Just Dip It” lunch. You should try going to an ESPN Zone. The Just Dip It is strawberries, pineapples, cucumbers, apples, carrots, celery, chicken salad, and crackers with a side bowl of yogurt and also dip for the carrots.

Then we went back to the Smithsonian. This time we went to the National Museum of Natural History. We saw the mammal section. We saw the bodies of pandas, tigers, bears…as many animals as you can think of and more! There was a red fox which is my favorite.

We also saw dinosaur bones, but not the actual dinosaurs. They were just made with burning clay. And when they cooled off, they had dinosaur bones.

Instead of like yesterday, where I said my legs were hanging on by strings, my legs actually fell off!! And when we were on the Metro, we finally got a seat, and the next stop was ours!

The Smithsonian

We went on the Metro today, and after that, we saw the Air and Space Museum. We saw many kinds of space and airplane stuff. My favorite one was when we saw the real C3PO and the real R2D2. We also could make our own airplanes on a little computer.

Also, before that, we saw a big Bible. The Bible was Greek. It was super, super old.

And the last thing we saw that I really, really thought was cool was a real live horse. The horse had a police woman on it, and it was having a bad day.

Space Ships!

We went to the Air and Space Museum. We also went to see Bibles that were about 1,000 years old. Mommy was very interested in the Bibles, but I thought they were boring. We walked around until my legs almost fell off because they were hanging on little strings.

At the Air and Space Museum, you got to see how an airplane landed at different points of view on a computer. Mommy said that it made her dizzy. Daddy and I were pilots. Actually, Daddy was the co-pilot, and I got to make a plane and fly it on a different computer. We saw rockets that were inside a building! There were big rockets and medium rockets, but no small rockets. We also saw a spaceship that went into space; two guys could be in it. It was from the Gemini program, and it wasn’t that big.

We also saw an IMAX movie called “Magnificent Desolation.” It was about two people going on the moon. It showed that their moon car could have hit a bump and almost exploded, and it showed the two men running out of air and their radios couldn’t work, so they couldn’t hear each other. They had this tube that connected to each other to share oxygen which was the emergency plan that NASA had just in case. The movie was in 3-D!! A girl had said in the movie that she would become an astronaut, and they showed in the future that the girl was establishing a town on the moon.

Moon rocks are cold, and I can tell because I touched one and it was freezing!

I have a joke about astronauts from My Friend magazine.

Q: What do you call a nut in space?

A: An astronut!

This is a flying machine that is called the Katydid. It's funny because my Mom nicknamed me Katy.

The Church Day

Today we went to a monastery. It was cool. We went to the secret tunnel. If you went in that secret tunnel, you would be able to see tombs, and also I think sculptures of dead people. We saw St. Innocent and his actual bones. Before that, we saw St. Cecelia, but it wasn’t her actual body. And when the Romans tried to get her head cut off three times, there were only scratches.

At the Basilica of the Immaculate Conception, we had lunch. But we didn’t take a tour. It was cool there because we got to have lunch in front of the Last Supper.

After lunch, we went on a bus and then we went on the Metro. Make that two Metros.

The end.

Bible Day

We went to a Franciscan Monastery and visited, maybe, 30 tombs! We saw the bones of St. Innocent. Innocent was a boy of 8 or 9. He was martyred and that’s all I know about him.

His bones are covered with lace. His face is porceline.

We had lunch at the Basilica of the Immaculate Conception and the lunch was chicken. Bawk, bawk! Cluck, cluck!

After lunch, we went to the John Paul II Cultural Center. We saw a handprint of the pope. There was a long line of hands of many people. I made a stained glass window on a computer. It was a lot of pretty designs.

Downtown Alexandria

Today we went to Old Town Alexandria, but last night we did it, too, to go out to dinner. We had lunch at Bilbo Baggins’ Restaurant. It wasn’t all that crowded there, but it was still alright. If you were me, and you went to Washington, DC, you would be able to go into the Washington Monument. That is all for now. Ta-ta! The End.

Alexandrian Vacation

Charge! The Redcoats are coming! Bang! Bang! Bang! BBBBOOOOOOOOOOOOOMMMMMMMMMMM! We are going to go to Washington D.C. tomorrow! Today we went to Alexandria and stopped at a bookstore. We found a good book called Clementine. You should stop by your local library and see if you can find it. Daddy bought a Redwall book for me.

This is the view from our room.
