Instead of hiding in the closet where the ornaments are (my idea), we lit the hurricane lamp and ran into the utility room.
I was scared. It was dark and cold. "Amanda," said Katey, "are you okay?"
"Yeah. Sort of," I said. "No, not really. I'm scared."
"Why don't we turn on the lights?" asked Daddy.
"Where's the ... Ah, HA!" shouted Mommy. The lights flickered on ... and went out. There was a loud noise like a train running over us.
After about one minute, the sound went away.
"We're safe? We're SAFE!" Katey yelled.
We came out of the utility room and went to the window. Our yard was torn apart! The trees were gone, the garage was gone, and everything else was safe. Or so I thought.
Katey ran into Mommy's and Daddy's bathroom. I ignored her until she said, "Well, there goes our pool!"
So soon we fixed everything up, but we couldn't drive any more because we didn't have a car! But we survived. Don't worry.
